What is a Tanuki Daruma?
Tanuki Daruma are Tanuki & Co's original versions of the Japanese traditional daruma doll.
Daruma is a lucky charm that symbolises good luck and perseverance in Japanese culture. People believe that the daruma can help you make your dreams come true and often used for making a wish by painting their eyes.
They are roly-poly dolls supporting the Japanese proverb “Nanakorobi Yaoki'' which means ‘fall seven times and get up eight to try again!’. Your tanuki daruma will always come back up even when pushed over.
For generations daruma has been a popular gift of encouragement and part of the Japanese tradition, especially during New Year celebrations.
Use your Tanuki Daruma to make a wish!
They currently don’t have eyes because the eyes are for you to paint on 👀
To awaken your daruma to help you fulfil a goal or wish - paint in the daruma's left eye. Once your wish has been fulfilled, paint the other eye with gratitude.
You can also paint in both eyes from the start if you just want to have your daruma as a lucky ornament to watch over you. 🌟
Tanuki darumas have a very special place in my heart, made with lots of love, time, and care so they can bring you the best of luck ♡
